Just because the other one was wide. Feel free to use either to post picutres.

It was Lili's first birthday a little while ago. Despite getting a paddling pool and a bubble machine, it was, predictably enough, the wrapping that went down best on the day!

Lili is so....cute. What great pictures, they should be on a calendar or something. Also must comment on the term "paddling pool" which reminds me of the movie Bridget Jones. I had never heard of a paddling pool until then. (I guess it is a British/Irish saying? We just call them Kiddie pools here in US) I just love the way paddling pool sounds Thanks for making me smile with both the words and the pics...I think my dog Toto would have a big crush on Lili.

Lili is very good at making people smile! I, however, am thinking of being brutally honest and renaming the paddling pool as 'large rainwater storage device'. It hasn't exactly been prime paddling weather here since I bought it.

Lili is so cute. She looks like a ton of fun!

Lili is beautiful and I hope she enjoyed her presents after she had finished with the wrapping.

Scottie would have enjoyed the bubble machine but not have gone anywhere near the paddling pool. We got her one during a very hot summer and she avoided it carefully for days. We eventually gave it to the baby next door and he made good use of it.

Bert was introduced to the kiddie pool at doggie daycare. He was definitely not a water dog prior to this - water = bathtub = bath, that was his experience.

I have a black and white printout of a photo they took the first day the girls put him in the pool - just standing there, not knowing what to do. He looked miserable. But not more than a couple of weeks after, he started going in and out of it on his own, and then finally decided it was a great place to lie down and cool off and just hang out.

He pretty much owned the pool after that - although he would get out if another dog pestered him too much - and get back in when the offender moved on.

The last day he went to daycare - four days before his passing - he came out to me soaking wet. He got so loved that day.

Woody is now 7 months old. Here he is with Lily, looking all grown up:

This was Woody at 10 weeks, just for comparison!

Thanks everyone! I agree :)

Maggie1944, luckily he has some brindle in him so he isn't completely black. I do still have a lot of pictures where he is just a dark blob.

I thought all Scotties were completely black. Good to learn something. And he's adorable.

#9 - how have I missed spotting Gregor on here before today? Oh, he is so handsome Compski. I need to get a picture of my Scottie up here right now. He's gorgeous.

ETA - those photo's on flickr had me squeaking away. "Look at Gregor with his present...oh look at Gregor on the couch." Poor Scottie is going mad looking for Gregor and she can't find him.

Msg 18: I have had problems with loading pictures since I am taking pictures with high resolution. I have to find someone to help me get rid of any big pictures that might be clogging up the works and then I need to try to load a smaller one. But I am not sure I have small pictures of Greta and Nicky.

There used to be a lot in the threads but when I was deleting pictures from Flickr because I thought I was repurposing my Flickr account all those pictures were deleted. I'll so see if I can find something to make up for it.

26maggie1944
Jul. 5, 2008, 2:28 pm

Thank you. Last night's fireworks put Nicky into the bathtub trying to dig thru to get under the house, I guess. I put his bed in the tub and he settled down. Greta went under my covers and covered her ears and eyes. Got to love 'em.

27beckylynn
Jul. 5, 2008, 6:53 pm

They look so precious, so I take it Nicky is a swimmer? Tizzy was doing the same thing the 4th, she hates fireworks (and thunder and gum and.....the list goes on). She was hiding in my closet the entire night. Where did the name Greta Garbo come from? Very interesting.

28maggie1944
Jul. 6, 2008, 1:40 pm

No, Nicky is not a swimmer. The wet feet came from long grass with a little late winter frost, snow, precipitation...

Greta Garbo: when she was a puppy I looked on line for dog's names and got to Garbo when I got to the Gs. Seemed like a cool name so I decided to pick it. Then Greta just came as a natural ad on, and she likes to be called Greta. So there, tha's my story, and I'm sticking to it. (-:

I don't have too many pictures of Bert to post as I just got my first digital camera after he died; but I did manage to get a couple from the doggy daycare people, and from other relatives.

This is me, Bert, and the Easter Bunny - this was taken at a gathering to benefit the Derry NH Humane Society. He was about 12 yrs old at the time.

cynthia- I love it when dog parents do stuff like this!! I took Tizzy, my chihuahua, to see Santa a couple of years ago, she didn't smile for pictures :(

36cynthiadogmom
Bearbeitet: Jul. 8, 2008, 10:25 pm

I have photos with Santa, too, but they're not online. My profile pic is of me and Bert at the doggy daycare Halloween party - Bert was a space-dog (elizabethan collar painted silver, with silver antennae - he won a prize for this), and I was The Blind Date From Hell (I won a prize at work for this - after I went around bullying people into voting for me. Hey, attitude is 9/10's of a successful costume, and boy, was I annoying..!).

Okay that's it. I've been gone for a while and was looking forward to seeing what had been happening while I was away but I really think someone should have put out some kind of 'Gorgeous Bull Terrier' alert. There aren't enough aaaaaahhhhs in the world for Casper. So many people tell me they think I am mad to love these dogs as bull terriers are 'ugly' - I ask you - What is wrong with these people? If Rodin had sculpted dogs he'd have sculpted bull terriers. In alabaster. And no offence meant to all our other beautiful dogs - least of all to my gorgeous Skeelo who has 2 BT girlfriends and agrees with me that they are yummy.

Is he always so photogenic or are you just there at the right times with a camera handy?

52QueenOfDenmark
Aug. 1, 2008, 5:09 pm

Bull terriers are a beautiful breed of dog and the type like Casper are a very loving, gentle breed too.

But if there's any sculpting going on I would like to suggest scottie's in black marble as a contrast to the white alabaster bull terriers.

53phlegmmy
Aug. 2, 2008, 5:12 pm

I'm always following her around with the camera. All bull terriers are photogenic and comical. They are like little human comedians in fur-suits.

Sometimes she is demure. Not often.

54phlegmmy

And sometimes an angel with a tilting halo

Sometimes she REALLY thinks she is human

Thank you booksloth. I have to tell you that Casper has a bit of a fan club on a horse board. It fuels my passion to take pictures of her. Maybe I'll start a Casper thread and show you some of her other pictures rather than hog up this one. I just love my dog and dogs in general. I think all of the dogs in this thread are adorable and I especially love the one of Sgt Pepper napping.

64Booksloth
Aug. 22, 2008, 11:46 am

Skeelo adores presents! He knows which is his pile on Xmas day and unwraps everything, one parcel at a time, takes the new toy round the room to show everyone, then comes back for the next one in his pile. It's got so that now, when someone else gets a pressie I have to wrap up a biscuit for him to open so he won't feel left out.

Sorry to all those dogs that I've scared with this photo but at least now you know your not alone.
