*I will edit and add to this later later to describe the events leading up to the current fashions of 1929 and why political events influenced the fashions of the era.

I posted these items in their own tread due to the large pictures. I left the images large so you can read the text if desired. Expand your computer screen to full view if necessary to see the entire image.

Here are some fashion ads from 1929 for men. If you want more visuals, just ask, and I can post more items from my husband's collection. Unfortunately, most of it I sold off but he does still have a few items I can post - mostly men's accessories and a couple pieces of clothing. I can pull from his collection as time permits so you can see what items really looked like.

Why don't men's dress shoe styles ever change?

Two - seam legs for extra fulness and what about 'for the stout man'?

Men's hats! Baseball caps and toques aside, I have one male friend who wears chapeaux and everyone finds him quaint.

My husband wears (non-baseball) hats and no one finds him quaint (at least, if they do, they don't tell me about it!)

Isn't it a great pity that not many people wear hats nowadays. They do so complete the 'look' of even a work-a-day outfit!

mine too, avid. He has a beret, a variety of ski toques (they count as hats in Canada) and several flat caps for winter; a wonderful Biltmore fedora for summer.

I can't quite imagine Mark in a beret, but he does have a Crusher, a fedora, a great straw cowboy hat for summer, a variety of baseball caps and a truly dreadful knitted watch cap (I call it his serial killer hat.) He wore a a top hat at our wedding and looked really fine. He used to have a fishing hat, too (he called it his dork hat) but I think that has been passed down to my son, who looks less dorky in it.

Suddenly, I felt the need to add the fact that he still has all his hair -- he just likes hats.
