Book Clubs Cambridge UK

Is anyone a member of/ hoster of a book club in Cambridge UK? I live near there and am hoping to join a book club. Thanks.

No but how would you feel about starting one? I am not sure I am as well read as yourself but I have an interest in some of the same areas and have read a few similar books. Anyway, the idea behind joining a book club is to get away from some of the trash I read without it all getting too precious. Let me know what you think or we could have an online version to start with to see if we have similar tastes.

I would be interested as I am in Cambridge. Suggest asking at a local library. Not the main one obviously as its shut.

So how do these things work - we borrow the books from the library or just buy them? I am all for just buying them and meeting somewhere in Cambridge like CB1 or the black cat cafe on mill road? Lets suggest a first meeting and a first book then put some notices around? What do you say? I am interested in peoples views on Michel Houellebecq. I am currently reading The possibility of an Island by him and he makes some bold unPC statements that although they are uncomfortable actually ring true.
