H-NC, a new online webpage and discussion listserv is now available through H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online: http://www.h-net.org/~h-nc.
H-NC seeks to serve North Carolina's diverse history communities by encouraging interaction and providing an outlet for the exchange of ideas. The list is a forum for reviews of books; announcements from archives, museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions about programming; research opportunities; research inquiries; public history-related queries; calls for conference panels and papers; job and internship announcements; and general discussion of North Carolina history. The objective is to serve and involve academics, librarians, public historians, graduate students and other interested parties across the Tar Heel State and beyond.
H-NC is edited by Jason Tomberlin, Reference Librarian, North Carolina Collection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Ansley Herring Wegner, Research Historian, NC Office of Archives and History; Michael Weisel, Doctoral Candidate, Duke University; and Dr. Judkin Browning, Assistant Professor, Appalachian State University (Book Review Editor).
An H-NC Advisory Board comprised of distinguished scholars across North Carolina assists in the webpage development and listserv process by joining or initiating discussions, noting items of North Carolina interest, and serving as liaisons to professional organizations and the educational community at large. Members of the Advisory Board are:

* Dr. Jeffrey J. Crow, Deputy Secretary, NC Office of Archives and History
