Kanga suggests reading or baking or doing a puzzle, but Roo doesn’t want to do any of those things. Tigger bounces by and, because it’s a very hot day, invites Roo to join him for a walk to the stream. Along the way, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Pooh, and Piglet join them. When they reach the Hundred-Acre Wood, Piglet teaches Roo how to skip stones. Then he learns about leaf boats and Rabbit shows him to balance a pod on his nose. After playing beside the stream, the friends make mud pies and Roo has a marvelous day discovering all the wonders of nature. This read-to-me picture book, based on A.A. Milne’s stories, brings all the expected characters into the telling of the tale. Young children will enjoy sharing Roo’s adventures and discovering how Roo and his friends used their imaginations to create playthings from nature and to have fun outdoors. Recommended. A bland story with art that seems a little off in places, like Roo's eyes having white around them, Rabbit looking downright evil, and Pooh's face always looking down or away from the reader.
(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
