I chose this book because I knew it would make a nice gift for my grandson. He is soon to be 10 years old but I think this would also be a good choice for the younger age boys also.God's Promises for Boys
I honestly feel this is quite an appealing book. I think it's perfect for keeping by the child's bed so that they can look through it before bedtime either by themselves or with a parent. I was tickled by the pictures throughout the book and I thought of my grandson and how he would enjoy them too. The book is similar to some that I have seen before for grownups, but this is the first I had seen one so simple and yet so wonderfully done. This book fits right in to a in manner to reach in the way a child would understand. Thomas Nelson Publishers have certainly done a great job with this! I even like the size of the book especially because it makes it more appealing and easy to pick up and read. My grandson will like this.

NCLA Review -This excellent devotional for preschool and school-age boys offers 60 short devotions for boys and their parents to share. Each devotion has a theme, usually a situation that a young boy might encounter. Examples include When You Are Happy, Obeying Your Parents, Making Each Day Count, and Praying for Others. Each two-page spread features a bright illustration of a boy and his dog on various adventures. Each devotion consists of a four-line stanza and 2-4 Bible verses on the theme. Parents can easily adapt these devotions depending on their child’s age and level of understanding. Because there are multiple verses for each devotion, it would make sense to read through this book multiple times as one’s child grows, knowing that the child would get something new out of the devotions each time. Nearly all of the devotions are applicable to girls as well as boys (indeed, my daughter has asked me to read this book with her many times), but a girls version, God’s Promises for Girls is also available. This is a children's inspirational/devotional type book written mainly for boys. It covers a variety of topics that kids deal with every day. Each topic spans two pages and includes a short poem and three to four verses. I would say this book is most appropriate for school-aged children.

I don't have any boys, so I started reading this book to my daughters each night as our devotional. After a few pages, I told them that was enough for one night. My older daughter asked if she could continue reading on her own. She understood the message and liked the way it was being presented. She loves the pictures and thinks they show what the verses talk about. I think this book presents a strong spiritual message because it is infused with scripture. Though we (my daughter and I) would recommend it to boys as some topics are written specifically for them, but girls (like my daughter) might enjoy it too as most of the topics relate to things all kids deal with.

Are you a parent of a son or sons trying to ground your son or son’s in Biblical truth? If you are, then you are a lot like me. Being the father of three young boys, I often find myself looking for devotional material to use with them in our all too infrequent family devotionals. I had hopes for “God’s Promises for Boys” by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker when I received this book to review and I was not let down in the least. Inside this small and wonderfully designed book I found 125 pages of Biblical promises that are very fitting to share with a young child. A book divided into “God’s Promises When…,” God’s Promises About…,” “God Wants You To…,” “God’s Promises of Help When…,” God’s Promises about Making a Difference…” “God’s Promises about Jesus…,” and “God’s Promises for You…,” this book shares many scriptural truths with little boys in a concise and memory verse style. The art work in this book is simplistic but very pleasing to the eye and conveys the emotion or message of each page elegantly.
