When last we saw him, young Tony Stark was nearly blown to bits. How much of him survived his initial Iron Man trial run, and where does the young genius go from here? Plus: How does James Rhodes fit into Tony's plans for the perfect fighting machine?

I really liked the first run of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, and the Ultimate X-Men ones weren't bad, but this Ultimate Iron Man I didn't find as believable as Spider-Man or the X-Men ones.

I think it may have been because in the normal Marvel Universe Tony is definitely no where near being a kid, either a pre-teen or teen. And while I liked the Rhodes/Tony as kids stuff, it was hilarious, there was no Pepper Potts which I think made it harder for the story be cohesive.

Also, I didn't love the art. The hair of most of the characters seemed off and some of the shadows as well. ( )

A rather fun rewriting of Iron Man's origin story. It's most interesting feature is that it is hardly about Tony Stark at all, but his parents. Card weaves a very complicated back story to bring about his hero, one that includes corporate battles, scientific exploration, personal conflicts, mishaps, kidnappings, and the like. Frankly, Tony himself isn't half as interesting as the story that created him.

Card's result is a bit different than the Iron Man we already know (and even the one of the Ultimate Universe) -- one that is not merely a man in a suit, but one who is pretty much brain from head to toe, one that is in constant pain, and one that has a bioarmor on his skin at all times. ( )

I generally really enjoy Marvel's Ultimate universe, but this collection of comics just didn't do much for me. The idea of Tony Stark having neural tissue all over his body was really weird, and a couple of the subplots (Loni's son, in particular) didn't interest me. There were some good moments (I especially enjoyed Tony discovering his love for alcohol), but there were too few for my tastes. ( )

ehhh, to be honest I liked the origin story of Iron man that was in the movie better. ( )
