( ) Kearsten says: ...wonderful, sweet and smart. Loved it! Merideth says: After the emotional roller coaster of her first YattaCon, Christie is looking forward to this years con with apprehension. She ditched her manipulative boyfriend/artist for Bethany, whose talent has caught the eye of comics company MangaPop. She's also looking forward, kind of, but not really, to seeing Matt again. However, when Matt shows up, he's brought his girlfriend, and it doesn't help that she's totally abrasive and unlikeable. Bethany has to chose between her mother's plans for her, which don't include drawing cartoons for a living, and what she wants. This book is just as much fun as it's predecessor. You root for Matt and Christie, and suffer with Bethany through her crisis of conscience. However, this book would be completely unintelligible without having read the first volume, and the 'Mary Sue' characteristics of comics creator Linda, who swoops in with the perfect advice are hard to ignore. But fans of shojo manga will find much to like here. The aspiring artist story allows for smart lessons about attempting to break into the business. The characters make realistic choices that still seem optimistic. This is the rare sequel that keeps all the good parts of the original, maintaining the appeal, but improves on them to create something even better. Gehört zur ReiheDramacon (2)
It's Christie's second year at the Lakeside Anime Convention and the drama picks up right where it left off in Dramacon volume one! With her new partner-in-crime, a.k.a. artiste extraordinaire Bethany, she is promoting her latest comic. Matt is also back, but to Christie's shock, he now has a girlfriend!.
