Rancher Flint Ashmore never expected to find a redware potter squatting on the property he purchased along Cherry Creek with his four brothers and sister. With a ruthless fiancé on her heels, Julia Gast has fled from Pennsylvania to the Colorado Territory to set up her pottery business and raise horses. She desperately needs not only the rich clay deposits of Cherry Creek, but also cash to survive. Against her better judgment, she aligns herself with a renegade Indian who helps her gather wild horses to sell to the same Army which is hunting him. But long-held secrets in the Ashmore family and Julia's past will set off a series of chain reactions, throwing Flint and Julia together to try to thwart mutual enemies who are attempting to destroy them. Will quick wits, a simple ring flask, and a meddlesome Indian be enough to help the pair discover the truth... and to ultimately find the peace and love they are seeking?… (mehr)

I'm not going to lie, it took me two week to get through the first 50 pages of this book. It begins like every western I've ever read, with minor changes. Nothing to particularly grab your interest. Though as I pushed myself through the slow opening, I found myself loving the characters more than the story going on around them. I read as love blossom between characters in a way that is reminiscent of modern relationships. I experienced the crossing of more than one cultural line, and loved the characters more for it. While the story was fairly typical for a western romance, the characters made it a loveable experience. Though there are a few parts of the book that made me uncomfortable in a not-so-exciting way, it's definitely worth the read, especially for romance or western fans. ( )

A big Thank You to the author Judy Ann Davis for the autographed copy of Red Fox Woman. After a couple of slow starts with this book, I found that I really enjoyed it. It has all the makings of a good western story. Rugged-handsome cowboys, renegade Indians, cattle rustlers, and romance. The characters were lively, and interesting. The one negative critique I have, is that it did read a bit like an episode of Bonanza or Big Valley. The characters were so likable and the story well written, I would have liked it to be a longer!

A western is not my first choice in books. However, I loved this one. It was a fast enjoyable read, that interested me to the point that I thought about it when I wasn't able to read it. I was surprised by the unpredictable events in the story line. Does anyone know where to find a Redware ring flask?

I loved this book. The story gripped me right from the start and never let go. I always enjoy a good historical fiction and this did not disappoint. There is an old west setting complete with cattle rustling, unsanctioned alliances with Native Americans, and disputes over property rights. In the midst of it all, an unlikely romance is budding. I found myself turning pages excitedly, eager to see how everything would turn out in the end. ( )

Red Fox Woman is a well written western romance, with just enough mystery to keep the reader guessing until the end. The cast of characters is bold and colorful just like the Colorado Territory in the post Civil War setting in which the story takes place.

When rugged, no nonsense Flint Ashmore discovers fiery redheaded Julia Gast living and setting up her pottery business on his recently purchased property, he means to find out quickly why she claims the property belongs to her. After a less than friendly first meeting, the two discover that working together, instead of against each other, will get them much more than just the answers to the property rights.
