An aristocratic birthright and the luxurious comforts of profound wealth did nothing to comfort Fontaine Pratina following the death of her beloved parents. After two years in the guardianship of her mother’s arrogant and selfish sister, Carileena Wetherton, Fontaine’s only moments of joy and peace were found in the company of the loyal servants of Pratina Manor. Only in the kitchens and servant’s quarters of her grand domicile did Fontaine find friendship, laughter and affection. The life of a wealthy orphan destined to inherit loomed before Fontaine—a dark cloud of shallow, arrogant associations—of aristocracy, void of simple joys—and void of love. Still, it was her lot—and she saw no way of escaping.Yet, one cold winter’s night, a battered stranger appeared at the servant’s entrance, seeking shelter and help. He gave only his first name, Knight—and suddenly, Fontaine found herself experiencing fleeting moments of joy in life. Knight was handsome, powerful—the very stuff of the legends of days of old. Though a servant’s class was his, he was proud, strong and even his name seemed to validate his persona—and he blissfully distracted Fontaine from her dull, hopeless existence.Still, there were devilish secrets—strategies cached by her greedy aunt—and not even the handsome and powerful Knight could save her from them. Or could he? And if he did—would the truth force Fontaine to forfeit her Knight, her heart’s desire—the man she loved?… (mehr)

What I like about the book:
His willingness to protect her interest.
The mystery behind his identity
Household servants have great personalities

What I did not like:
Irritating that the main male character refers to the main female character one minute as "miss" and the next minute "my peach".
She is so hopelessly helpless.
How many times can the word "tears" be used in a book to describe the emotions of "one" person. OMGoodness. ( )

Marcia Lynn McClue really knows how to write some fabulous kissing scenes! And there were several in this story. Fontaine finds a man freezing to death at the servant's entrance and quickly rescues him and sets about to restore his health. Knight is the name the man goes by and seeks to repay Fontaine for her kindness by rescuing her from her wicked Aunt, Lady Wetherton. Knight finds himself fallilng for Fontaine's wit, her smile, her intelligence, her innocence and her kisses. But there are things Fontaine doesn't know about Knight and he feels if she did know it would ruin her feelings for him.

This was a story I read to completion in a day and it was good to the very last page! This is just a good romantic story in the days when there were noble "knights" who had passion and love for their "lady" in distress. Kind of put me in the mood of "Cinderella" and her wicked stepmother relationship, with a mysterious "Prince Charming" in disguise. ( )

I just happened to come across a blog a few weeks back to get a free copy of this book. I am glad I decided to take the offer. This is the first book I have ever read by Marcia L McClure. I am now a huge fan. I feel in love with this book a wonderful romantic tale. Fontaine draws you into her poor situation. Knight is mugged and beaten, he drags himself to the home of Fontaine and her aunt. She takes care of him with the help of the servants. Fontaine is always hanging out with them in the kitchen where she feels the most wanted and loved. Her wicked aunt, whom I wanted to slap, comes to find Knight in the kitchen and they play if off well. She hires him as her coachman wanting to dig her nails into him for herself. Knight realizes the predicament Fontaine is in with her aunt and tries to help her. There are some great twists and some fun along the way. I lovely must read. ( )

The Rogue Knight a is quick and thoroughly enjoyable tale. Fontaine was left in the care of her wicked aunt when her parents were killed. She fears her aunt will force her to marry someone older with money. That way her aunt will benefit. Just as Fontaine was feeling hopeless about her situation, her rescue comes in an unlikely package. One that is tall, dark, handsome and in need of her help. Knight shows up at her door after having been robbed and beaten. He soon realizes that Fontaine helped him even though it was a danger to her because of her aunt. Immediately Knight forms a plan to help her. Will his plan be a successful? And what will happen when she finds out the truth about him?

This was a very romantic tale. It kept me turning pages from beginning to end. I really fell in love with Knight and his roguish ways. Fontaine was a very sweet and caring heroine. I also enjoyed all the secondary characters as well. Except for the wicked aunt and you weren't suppose to like her anyway!! This is my second book by this author and it definitely won't be my last. I really like her easy writing style. This story was clean with a little edge (which I love). I would certainly recommend this wonderful little tale. ( )
