I agree with a lot of the other reviews in that I did not like the original ending. I felt it was rushed and was so different from the rest of the book it was like the ending to an entirely different story. The alternate ending is so much better. Being a christian myself I don't mind books based on faith, however, this book seemed a bit pushy to me. This is the first book I have read from this author so I'm not sure if all his book are like that or just this one. All in all I found it to be an okay book. I had a goody-goody feeling during the first 80% of this book. It was developed in an almost too sweet way. And then, it took a turn. It could have been written by Jeffrey Deaver, the last 20%. I felt sick to my stomach at the turn of events and the change of genre almost. When finished I almost dumped it in the garbage. I NEVER HAVE DONE THAT TO A BOOK. Have thought about it and still don't know who I will give this copy to. The author may have developed a more consistent story line since this was written. Actually, he must be a good writer to evoke this strong an emotion in a reader. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book all the way up till the end. Jimmy is a Mentally handicap boy who has overcome many obstacles while on the path of growing up. Should you not like the printed ending of this book (which has good and bad things to it) there is an alternative ending (good ending) online at www.robertwhitlow.com. I prefer the alternate ending and would suggest reading that instead of the last chapter! First book I read from Robert Whitlow(about 3 yrs ago) and for awhile I wondered where the story was going. But I then I found myself enjoying it throughly and by the end was sad I was done. Story line is wonderfully different and I have recommended it to many people. I have since read more of Robert Whitlow's books. Give this one a try, you won't be disappointed. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Once you look at the world through Jimmy's eyes, you'll never see it the same again. Jimmy's world is a place where a boy can grow to be a man, even if he's "special." Where angels hover, mostly unseen. Where danger can happen, and hearts can falter-but love is never wasted. From best-selling author Robert Whitlow comes a poignant tale of innocence and courage in the tradition of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill A Mockingbird. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
