This book is a disappointment. It is not about embracing orthodoxy - the beauty of Roman Catholicism. It's about proposing something better than that which has existed for thousands of years, which has evolved over 2000 years. It's about descent. It proposes humanism – making the mores of popular culture the norm for Catholicism. The book would seem to be a good sampler of the culture of dissent against the Catholic Church even though it is not forthrightly expressed. It’s one redeeming quality is its numerous short stories of faithful Catholics. ( )
