I love when an author writes a story and doesn't rely on sex or horrid language to fill the pages. This is a great story that leaves me already putting the next in the trilogy on my wish list. :) ( ) 2.5 stars. Not crazy about this one. It wasn't bad, but it felt rushed in some places, and just a touch incredulous. Yes, I know it's a fantasy novel, but somehow, the suspension of disbelief just didn't reach the right level for me, I guess. Best way to discribe this story: put Harry Potter and Divergent into a blender, pour it through a sieve and you get Anathema. Not bad, but without any real substance. Though I've had this book for a really long time just sitting collecting imaginary dust on my ereader, I only just got around to reading it. And man, I wish I read it sooner. Way different than anything I've read lately, books like these have really brought me to love the fantasy and magical power genre, something I didn't used to enjoy. I can't wait to check out the second book in the trilogy. Check out my full review here! https://radioactivebookreviews.wordpress.com/2020/11/13/anathema-cloud-prophet-t... Reychelle has spent her whole life as a slave, hidden inside the walls of Kandeck’s castle, only seeing the sun when she is in his study telling him stories. Her life changes dramatically on the day of her 15th birthday, a day she has been dreading. Ms. Jansen has created an unusual world where the locals have been enslaved and are awaiting the Prophet who will free them from oppression. Some people have “gifts” that allow them to do extra-ordinary things. They have to hide in order to survive. I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy and seeing how the world and Reychelle’s skills develop. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
