Very touching and sweet at times, very dark at others. It was about Chris who's recovering from heroin addiction. It felt very realistic; his road to getting clean wasn't bump-free. The isolation he was feeling--between his family having turned their backs on him after he came out, to leaving all his acquaintances and semi-friends behind with his drug habits--was heartbreaking. The occasional homophobes, intolerant people and that still-in-the-closet guy certainly didn't help matters. Then there was Denny. He brought a magical touch to the story, not by making everything all better (which would've ruined the story), but just by being there. Though I still can't say I know exactly what he was. He was a ... a mixture of fervent wishes and maybe dreams? An invisible friend who stayed around and grew? Maybe even a guardian angel with amnesia. Whatever he was, he was magical and really great. Lastly, I loved the epilogue. :) Zeige 3 von 3 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Auszeichnungen
Christopher Borgasian has spent the last seven months painstakingly breaking up with a lover he's adored for three years: heroin. Now he's trying to make it on his own--without the drugs, without the family that rejected him for being gay, and, seemingly, without a friend in the world. The night before Chris leaves a sober-living facility to pursue his uncertain future, a stranger named Denny shows up in his room. From then on, Denny returns whenever Chris needs him the most, always vanishing as mysteriously as he appears. Chris desperately needs emotional and physical intimacy, but who is Denny, really? And can Chris believe in him when it also means believing in unconditional love? Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
