She may be a Mississippi belle, but Sarah Booth Delaney is no pampered daddy's girl. Unwed and over thirty, Sarah has her own set of problems--like coping with regular hauntings by her great-great-grandmother's nanny, a busybody of a ghost who's set on marrying her off to the first suitor who comes calling. But when an old friend is in trouble, Sarah Booth doesn't hesitate to get involved. Splintered Bones Eulalee McBride has confessed to murdering her husband...and she wants Sarah to dig up the dirt on the violent scalawag to prove he got what he deserved. Sarah Booth suspects that her friend is lying through her pearly whites...but why? There's certainly no lack of suspects in Zinnia, Mississippi, including Bud Lynch, a horse trainer who arouses killer lust in the town's women. As Sarah Booth begins to put together the pieces of the case, a killer is preparing to strike again. And this time it could send one late-blooming southern sleuth into an early grave.… (mehr)

Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds von Nancy Martin (scriberscouse)
scriberscouse: Although there are no paranormal elements to the Blackbird Sister novels they have such a pleasantly similar feel to the Bones/Mississippi Delta novels I'm sure fans will love both.

Three plus. Kinky Friedman shout out! I loved that. My other favorite parts were the unsuitable suitors. I can see the wheels turning but it was still a fine southern mystery. I think I may have read the first one a decade ago. ( )

Another excellent stand-alone novel, this one set in the Equestrian Set of down south. I love that the friend Tinkie is helping the heroine out with things, and somehow is quite good. The dog is a nice addition, but I still find the ghost/friend annoying and rude. I will come back to these novels soon, they make a damn nice change of pace from all the hard-reads, the fast-paced thrillers, and the busy schedules of summertime with children. ( )

My favorite thus far in the series, this way another enjoyable installment in the Sarah Booth mysteries. ( )

More Southern Mississippi Delta mystery - still entertaining, but getting predictable. I may give Sarah Booth a rest for a while. ( )

The more I read of this series the more I really like it. This was a great storyline and it moved quickly for me, keeping my interest for what is a higher-than-average number of pages for a cozy. My only complaint is that Jitty is a nag, but it's a small complaint as it hardly detracts from the enjoyment I get reading the books. ( )
