This was a fairly interesting story... I think it makes a difference that I'm jumping into a series without having read the first six books. That being said, it was pretty well written and, for the most part, kept my attention. I was pleased with the character development, knowing that I was jumping into a series I knew nothing about. My only complaint, really, is that the ending kind of went on and on without being very interesting (to me). It built up to the end really well--the climax was great. I just felt a bit let-down by the rambling descriptions of the final scenes, fighting on boats. I think I got confused, towards the end, because all of a sudden, there were TONS of people milling about, and it kind of overwhelmed me. The final chapter or so were good again.... I may go back and check out the first books in the series....

I should mention, I obtained this book, free, at the PLA Conference in Philly in 2012... it's an uncorrected proof copy. That's why I jumped into the series like that. Great way to introduce me to an author I've never even heard of before! ( )

Alex Hawke overcomes multiple adversaries in the techno-thriller. Fun story with a major sea battle. ( )

I didn't like this book as much as the author's previous Hawke books. ( )
