SEERS FORETELL THE BIRTH OF A LEGENDARY KING. His ascendance will spell the end to the centuries-old enslavement of his race. Knowing this, a head-of-state plots a mass genocide. Its failure drives him to forge an uneasy alliance with a rival possessing knowledge of the liberator's only weakness. Meanwhile, as members of the slave nation prepare for war, a costly betrayal compels the hero to reveal his powers publicly for the first time. Outnumbered and overmatched, his people enter the turning point of the battle without him as he has suddenly disappeared from sight. Weaving suspense and political intrigue together in a spellbinding plot, The Revelation Gate addresses issues of doubt, star-crossed love, and the power of hope. “The Revelation Gate” is parallel to that of the birth of Christ. It’s a tale of Isoke wanting a child but remained barren until the holy rain. Aitan, Isoke’s husband, had other wives but was never intimate with Isoke. Aitan knew that his brother possessed feelings for his wife so when Isoke became pregnant, Aitan questioned the pregnancy. Could it be his brother’s child or that of the holy rain?
“The Revelation Gate” is my first read by Brian L. Thompson, and I must say that his writing style took me by surprise. Thompson does a wonderful job capturing the reader’s attention in showing love among family, trust, survival of the fittest, secrets, death, murder, faith, sacrifice, lust, betrayal and the strength of a mother to keep her child alive. My two favorite characters were Isoke for her strength and Chimelu because of his kindness, compassion, and honor.
