I do not like how the picture is the same on every page. The pictures are also deceiving because if he is really hungry, at the end he would not be happy if all the strings broke and didn't get any food. I did like the idea of the book. The main idea of the book is to give kinds a made up background of why spiders have 8 legs. ( ) This is a wonderful African folk tale book for young readers. I enjoyed the humouros ending this book had. I was not expecting that the reason for the people pulling on the string was why spiders have eight legs and narrow waists. I also liked the illustrations because it was very different than ones I have seen. The illustrations looked like it was based on the African culture. The overall idea of this book was to explain how spiders got their legs in a humorous way. I liked this book because the pictures were enticing. However, I did not like the book because it seemed to just end abruptly. This sounds funny but for me, I didn't understand how the book went from talking about getting tied around the waist with a string and when they snap she turned into a spider. Somewhere it should have been added that this was how a spider was made. The main idea of the story is to describe how spiders came to be by explaining it in a porqoui.
