Bought this book from: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/96777 Pros: * Fast-paced * Action-packed * Does not feature vampires Cons: * Fast-pacing lead to underdeveloped characters with no explanations of 180 degree turns and very little set up. * The mix of Christianity, Norse Lore and made-up terms was killing me! I know there are a lot of comparisons of Loki to Lucifer out there, but sometimes it just felt jumbled and inconsistent. Finally, and I say this as a Whedon-ite, can we please stop with all the Buffy references? Short-cutting to "he looked liked Spike," or referencing that a fight scene "looked like Buffy," cuts away from the reading. I get it, we all love all things Joss, but my "fan girl alarm" goes off immediately and I'm pulled out of the story. Not to mention there are people out there who have never seen Buffy. I won a copy of this ages ago and have been meaning to read it forever. I'm glad I finally managed to! I loved the originality of the events in this story--the devil having a daughter, the descriptions of heaven & hell, everything. I found Desi interesting and engaging. The only thing was I had a hard time connecting with the writing. I don't know if it was me or what, but I just couldn't get pulled into the story as easily as I normally do. I mean, when I normally sit down to read, it takes me all of a sentence or two to get swallowed by the tale. This took a lot longer. Don't have a clue why, but it left me wanting... Gehört zur ReiheDesolation (1)
The battle over Midgard begins with just one girl ... Earth has been without a Guardian since its creation, but Loki means to take it for himself. His daughter, sixteen-year-old Desolation, wants nothing more than to stay in Hel where it's cold and lonely and totally predictable. Instead, she's sent to Midgard to make her choice--and what she chooses will determine not only her own future but the fate of all the worlds. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
