Archer Hamilton is a collector of rare and beautiful insects. Gina Shaw is a servant in his uncle’s house. Clearly out of place in the position in which she has been discovered, she becomes a source of fascination...and curiosity. A girl with a blighted past and a fortune she deems a curse, Gina has lowered herself in order to find escape from her family and their scheming designs. But when she is found, the stakes suddenly become dire. All Gina wants is the freedom to live her life as she would wish. All her aunts want is the money that comes with her. But there is more than one way to trap an insect. An arranged marriage might turn out profitable for more parties than one. Mr. Hamilton is about to make the acquisition of a lifetime. But will the price be worth it? Can a woman captured and acquired learn to love the man who has bought her?… (mehr)

This novel has an interesting perspective, of following a fallen woman who belongs to the middle-upper classes. It has a good pace, and an easy reading style that I easily got into. The main character had a hesitance based on her past experiences that was believable, but it seemed to go on a bit too long, making the novel feel longer than it really needed to be. I will look forward to reading more from this author. I would also recommend checking out the novel for the fantastic artwork between chapters. ( )

I recommend this book to any historical fiction fan. I loved that every time I sat to read it i got deeper into the secrets held by this story. What a tale there is to be discovered! ( )

I enjoyed this book. I love historical fiction although I'm not quite so keen on romances. This book had romance and scandal. The two main characters did annoy me somewhat as they did spent so long refusing to discuss their feelings and avoiding each other. You wanted to tell them to get over themselves. But overall, it was a lovely book. ( )

Deep, profound and very long. Set in the late 1800's, Imogen is only able to escape her Uncle's clutches when he dies. But, can she ever escape her past? Can she learn to trust again? ( )

An all over decent love story even though it was rather long winded and extensive. The main thing that this book taught me is that the British might vocalize a lot of words but they don't actually say anything.

Seemed to me that the whole story could've been told in about 20 pages but the author did the basic romance novel approach and had a misunderstanding with undertones of anger, that extended out the story to a couple hundred pages instead.

Regardless of what seemed like endless back and forth, I did enjoy the read and I thought the characters were well thought out and defined. ( )
