This is a "where babies come from" book that's more silly than informational. Willy is a single sperm that's bad at math, but good at swimming. When he beats the other sperm to the egg he turns into a little girl who is also bad at math but good at swimming. A little dumb, but fun.

P.S. I found Where Willy Went on a banned books display. IMHO, it doesn't contain anything that would upset the average kindergartener. You can make out the outline of a penis a couple times and the MARRIED couple "join together" under the covers. Nah bigs. If I object to anything in this book, it's that it perpetuates a myth that the man puts a little person inside a woman, who is just a vessel for said person. Come on, people. We can educate our children a little better than that. ( )

This story was not like any other, and yet I found it to be interesting. I understand that many parents do not want their kids exposed to this topic (at least not at such a young age), but I do think that this story puts a different twist on explaining how babies are made. From what I have seen, kids ask where babies come from all the time. I have heard the birds and the bees story, or the one where dad parks his car in mom's garage... all types of things. I think this story tells it how it is, but it is not too inappropriate. I do think, however, that this story should be read to children who are mature and understand more about how things work. ( )

Where Willy Went is book that has been frequently challenged. Many parents do not want this book in the children's sections of libraries. This book is about a sperm and also shows a picture of a cartoon man that is naked and shows his penis. There is also a picture of a cartoon naked woman. This book is educational about the way a sperm goes to the woman's egg to create a baby. I can understand why this book is challenged. I would not want my children reading this at school, but would not mind reading it with them at home. Children need to learn where babies come from, but I think some parents might feel uncomfortable for their young children to be reading about it or seeing pictures without them. ( )

The theme of this book was the journey of how a baby is born. The story starts with explaining what a sperm and egg is. Also, the story shows with pictures where the sperm and egg live. The book is cute but very odd. I can see why it is a banned book and the reason parents would have a problem with it. The book is very informative but very awkward for teachers to read to children. This book would be a great way for parents to explain sex and how babies are made. I wouldn't read this to my class because it isn't my place to explain how babies are made. The book does an excellent job explaining it, from the beginning of the book we follow the journey of the sperm. Then we get to see how a baby is formed. It explains how it takes a father's sperm and the mother's egg to make a baby. Very cute book but not appropriate to read in the classroom. ( )
