In this tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Steven Guarnaccia transforms the traditional story into a modern one. The bears and their belongings are trendy. They had on fashionable outfits that I felt young readers would enjoy. The text format was almost childlike. It was not a simple Times New Roman font, which made it more appealing. It was also easy to read and follow along with since it wasn't too wordy for young children. The illustrations stood out on the solid black and white backgrounds. They too were engaging as the style of the artwork was much different than any other picture book I have read.
Although there were some changes, the lesson was the same in this version of the tale. Goldilocks, who is motivated by her selfishness, lets herself into someone else's home, sits on their furniture, eats the chili Mama Bear made, and sleeps in their beds. This demonstrates the negativity of a sense of entitlement to children. It also helps children to understand how your actions can hurt others. Luckily for Goldilocks, she got away safely, never to return again. ( )

I absolutely loved this version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears! This version followed the same story line of the original tale-but with a modern twist. The illustrator decided to add furniture that was made from celebrated designers to go along with the hip and cool style of the three bears. I found it a bit odd when the bears reactions in the narrative did not coincide with the illustrations. Throughout the story, the bears displayed a cool, relaxed and easy going demeanor even when they found Goldilocks in the cub's bed. Still, this was a lovely tale. ( )

This book has a contemporary realistic twist to Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The bears eat chili instead of porridge and some of the terminology they use are slang and more modern. The pictures in the book are more of todays' time and even the cover. This book has the same central message as every other Goldilocks and that is to keep your hands off of others belongings or to not touch things that don't belong to you.

Great, colorful illustrations! This is a classic tale told with modern conveniences. It maintains the original story but makes it accessible to a new generation. ( )

This books has a very unique twist to the Goldilocks that many have come to know. For instance, in this version the momma bear cooks chili instead of porridge. It pretty much follows the same pattern as the traditional book.

I loved this book from day one. Its a very funny story. I remember my dad used to read this book to me every night before bed, it is all I wanted to hear. My dad use to always tell me to leave other peoples things alone without their permission.

I would have my children write their own little version of Goldilocks. As in this book I would have them put their own little twist to the story and we would read them out loud.
