Again... some minor issues... but I liked the characters and the story.
I really must wonder, though... what exactly is meant by biologist and botanist in this book? Seems like one of a few glaring issues.

This is the sequel to Verita. Brett and Ryan have made their way back to the base. However, their previously supportive field manager has turned against them and seems suspicious of their every move. All of their friends are love-struck, with seemingly odd matches. Left to puzzle out the situation, Brett is worried that their sleeping pods are sending subliminal messages and programming. I really enjoyed this book. The characters and plot were well thought out and flowed smoothly. I can't wait to read more from this author! ( )

Picking up where Verita left off Concisus continues the story of the new society created called Verita. Collecting mainly teens with few or or connections and tragic pasts Verita sent these kids in pods in a type of suspended animation. On the journey they gain all knowledge necessary for their new lives and careers. However all is not as it seems. In the previous book main character Brett begins to question her friends relationships and the power of the pods. After being rescued along with Ryan from the field they find some cracks in their prefect society.Brett has to try cope with the after effects of her time spent past the barriers and try and break the hold those with the power are inflicting on her friends through the pods. I liked Verita more than the sequel but the concept and story are interesting and I'm eager to see how the story plays out. ( )

Concisus is the second book in the Verita series by Tracy Rozzlynn. The story takes off from where the first one left off. Brett, our fearless protagonist, and her love interest Ryan have made it back safely back to civilization. Little do they expect the hostile reception and the long quarantine that meets them when they arrive. As the book progresses, we realize this is just the first mystery to present itself and there are many more surprises in store.

I will be honest with you. This isn't a perfect book because it contains some errors and has some slight plot issues. But it almost makes it to a five star rating because of its lightning paced plot, engaging protagonist who has more balls than any male hero I've ever read about, and genuine creativity that bursts through every page. I am fascinated and impressed by Rozzlynn's imagination; she has created a world that is beautiful and filled with strange creatures and plants that I would love to examine myself. Also, I love how she has packed in the surprises. The book is a little slow in the first half because we already know that the pods likely lead to some odd romantic pairings, but this quickly picks up pace once we learn about *SOME SLIGHT SPOILERS* the existence of a black market and are introduced to a sinister new character, the Chairman.

Overall, while not as awe inspiring as the first mostly because we've already been introduced to this fantastical world, I still remain impressed with Rozzlynn's creativity and world building. I blazed through this book in a day and am anxiously awaiting the final book in the trilogy. ( )
