Simon says: I'm watching. Simon says: I'm coming. Simon says: Die.

Madison McKinley knows someone is stalking her. The police tell her she's imagining things, and they're too busy trying to find the "Simon Says" killer to investigate. But day by day, hour by hour, Madison's terror grows stronger, and not even the return of FBI Special Agent Pierce Buchanan into her life can calm her fears. Besides, how can she ask Pierce for his help after the way she ended things between them?

Pierce still wants Madison's love, and his drive to protect her is more powerful than ever. He believes she's in danger, even if the cops don't. Finally, as more people start dying and the evidence mounts, the police turn their attention to Madison??as a suspect. Was Pierce a fool to trust her again, or are they both caught in a complex game that neither will survive?… (mehr)

This book was so different than the first one I had to keep checking to see if I was reading the right book. I really liked the first book but it was a much more serious romantic suspense book. Not much humor in it. This one I was cracking up in the first chapter.

Pierce Buchanan, the FBI Special Agent we met in the first book, has been asked by his best friend Logan to check up on his sister Madison. Madison and Pierce had a little romance (which was between the two books) and she had broken things off with him and left FL. Turns out they both ended up in Georgia and didn’t know it. Madison is quite the fire cracker and keeps everyone around her on her toes.

Here is an example of the humor – Pierce is about to knock on Madison’s door
“As he raised his hand to knock on Madison’s door again, a man darted around the corner of the house from the backyard and ran to the road out front. A woman with shoulder-length dark hair ran after him. Pierce clenched his jaw. No point in knocking again. Madison wasn’t home. She was chasing a man down the street.”

This results in Pierce getting shot. It turns out Madison has had a stalker and she’d had enough. But the police in Savannah, GA think she is a quack. Every time she has called them out to her house he is gone and there is no trace of him. They even think she has typed the letters she has received to.

Pierce is torn with his feelings toward Madison. On the one hand she ripped his heart in two when she walked away from him and on the other he promised her brother he would keep her out of trouble. That turns out to be a very difficult task as trouble seems to follow Madison where ever she goes.

The characters are complex and winning, the plot tight, and especially
rewarding, the writing itself is excellent. Fast-moving and twisty . . . delivers one electric jolt after another. This was definitely a page turner. Very enjoyable and kept the reader interested. Will look for more books by Lena Diaz. totally Simon Says Die kept my interest and I felt I was sitting on the edge afraid something was going to happen that I did not want to happen.

Once you pick this book up and start reading you will not put it down until you are finish! I enjoyed the pacing of the book and the way Lena wove the different elements together. It was easy to get into the story and at no point was reading it anything other than pleasurable. The story was just brilliant that I will definitely buy the other books to follow. ( )

This is the first book I've read by Diaz, and I flew through it. I didn't want to put it down. Romantic suspense is my favorite genre, so this book was right up my alley. She had me from the beginning, with a fast paced opening and strong hook. I'm a bit surprised by those who said they didn't like the heroine. For me, I enjoyed that she didn't do as she was told, was strong and at the same time was flawed by her own emotional issues. I didn't read her as being selfish or self-centered, just the opposite, but she had problems showing her true feelings--I saw that as a plus, not a minus. And the hero is beyond loveable. His relationship with his family was a nice touch, and I'd enjoy seeing more about them in later books. I also enjoyed the fact that there were a lot of twists and turns that kept you wanting to keep reading, as opposed to it being totally straight forward. Romantic suspense reads can become repetitive with similar story lines, but this was one a fresh edge and unique voice that I would recommend. ( )
