Book #2 in The Hart Family series Damien Hart will never allow himself to fall into a committed relationship. He's seen the worst of the worst, and he knows that there isn't a woman on earth that will ever change his mind. All of that changes the moment he meets Brooke Tyler. Damien's entire view of women and relationships is rocked by her, and though he tries, he can't make himself stay away. Brooke is everything Damien never acknowledged that he wanted. Will he be able to let go of his past and take a chance on love?… (mehr)

I was excited to contiune the series after Broken Hart but as I started to read I quickly realized that it was just a repeat of the first book arrghhh! It was from Damien and Brook's point of view but I already knew what happened and their side of it didn't shed any new light on it. I found myself skimming through the book sadly. Then finally it started to be all of Damien and Brooks story whew. Damien was more hard nosed than Dante when it came to following his heart. Once things broke loose and everything was going to work itself out it sort of came silly as it was the same things that Dante had said to Sabrina and I was not impressed. There was a lot of hot raunchy sex towards the end I will give it that. I think if I would have read a few books after Broken Hart then it would have been better as it wouldn't have been as fresh in my mind. I will read Loving Hart but I will wait awhile so that if it repeats itself I will enjoy the refresher. I was not overly happy with this book since I enjoyed Broken Hart so much. If your like me you will still have to read it because you will have to know.

Chapters alternate between his and hers point of view. The problems is that it means everything is told twice and although we get a little bit more insight into their thoughts it's very repetitive and sometimes even boring.

DNF at Page 110.

Ugh, I tried, but I've more than reached my limit now. Where to start?

I already wasn't all that happy with the first book but thanks to not being able to leave a book of a series on my reader, I still started the second book. I'm not sure where all the high ratings come from, as I disagree to 100%. It's a case of: "Did we read the same book?"

Let's start with the dual POVs: Damien and Brooke tell the story in mostly alternating chapters, which would be quite alright if one POV wouldn't simply repeat every goddamn action that the other POV already covered. That combined with some recounting of events from the first book, had me reading almost every event twice - ergo half the book would have been enough, it almost felt like the author was just trying to painstakingly fill more pages with events we already read about nonetheless (and that's about 40-50% of the book).

Oh, one more thing, if I write a series and book 1 and 2 play out in the same timeline, then I should make sure that everything lines up. Please correct me if I'm wrong but in book 1 there was no mention of a trip to Vegas with all of them, was there? That shouldn't happen.

I'm no friend of love at first sight, soul mates or anything else in that direction. It sometimes works in books but in "Shattered Hart" it was just another detail that set me off.

Spoiler Alert:
So with a lot bitching and moaning I actually reached Page 110 and I just can not go on from here on out. That scene between Damien and Brooke where Damien manages to "keep brooke's vriginity intact while sliding in and out of her until the barrier stops him" is utter bullshit. It's.not.fucking.possible. It's not so hard to open up google and at least check where a hymen is located before I write such a scene, is it?

It may be a small detail but it just was one thing too much. And it hopefully teaches me that I shouldn't buy the second book of a series before I read the first one. ( )
