The Magic School Bus: Penguin Puzzle

Summary:
The teacher Ms. Frizzle took Phoebe and the other students along with Phoebe's uncle Cecil to Antarctica to study penguin. Throughout the field trip information about penguins, the winds, as well as the krill that penguins eat. When Cecil was researching Phoebe and several of the other students find Cecil scaring him causing him to spill a formula on thee kids transforming them into kid-penguins. While the kid-penguins were swimming Dorothy Ann Porpoise. Through a journal entry Phoebe explains why penguin's porpoise. After the field trip and Ms. Frizzle and her students get back to class, where the students do their reports. The reports are in the last chapter of the book, Dorothy Ann and a group of students made a penguin out of ice.

Reaction:
I enjoyed the book, I remember reading some of the Magic School Bus books while in elementary. I thought that the information about the types of penguins was interesting and the book gave scientific detail about six types of penguins.

3.This book could teach students about the different species of penguins.

This story is told from Phoebe's perspective. There are facts about birds and like always it's a charming story about the Magic School Bus crew. ( )

I recommend this book to children who love learning about animals and like penguins also. ( )

This book is a wonderful example of the informational genre. While it has an engaging narrative story line, the main focus is on the factual information presented about penguins and the Antarctic. The facts appear to be well-researched, accurate, and relevant. ( )
