A dog learns to make room for her family of people. As the family grows, the dog encounters new types of feet. This rhyming book is told from the viewpoint of the dog during mealtimes. There is a bit of counting involved with the new family members’ feet. The illustrations show what a dog would see, mostly objects at the ground level, like feet and floors. The focal point of the illustrations is the family’s kitchen table. Most families congregate here and so do their dogs. This is a fun book to read aloud with words and phrases like “pit-touiee” and “full swinging flip-uppers.” Varying lengths of text help pace the story. The words are vivid and imaginative. Librarians and teachers can include this in a lively story time. Kids with new brothers or sisters will understand the concept of making room for new family members. New family members can bring positive and negative qualities, as the dog discovers. Children may have questions about how the family grows and how the dog ends up with puppies. Recommended for school, home, and public libraries.
As the household changes from a single man to a man with a wife and children, a dog learns to adjust to and enjoy each new member of the family. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
