I chose this book because I love stories set with a western theme. I enjoy reading about cowboys and the loves of their lives. I also am a huge animal lover. Big or small, it doesn’t matter I love them all. So this book hooked me on two points the cowboy and the cats.
Lanna Kirby is a big city girl with a broken heart. She’s left behind the big city for a small Texas town with her cat Gordon. She’s looking to mend her heart not fall into a relationship. A part I really liked is that she gets to take Gordon to work with her. Gordon hangs out in the post office sometimes charming the customers irking others.
Jackson Harrington is a country boy through and through. He’s busy running his ranch and doesn’t have much time for anything else. He’s not looking for romance at all, until he meets the new post mistress that turns his head.
When Lanna and Jackson meet sparks fly and emotions erupt, but it isn’t all love
and kindness. They rub each other the wrong way and tend to bicker more then anything. Each has feelings for the other but it doesn’t seem to fail that when they meet they fight. It’s fun to watch the attraction and the sparks because these two just aren’t quite sure if they should kiss and make up for run for the hills from the other.
Jackson’s biggest down fall is he just doesn’t see Lanna’s love for her cat . He doesn’t see how a person can talk to an animal like it understand what we are saying. Can sweet and loving Lanna change this big tough cowboy’s opinion about cats?
This book started out great and I thought it had great promise. I really did enjoy the story but it ended WAY to fast. I would love to read more of Lanna and Jackson story. I’m sure there will be more sparks of romance and bickering. I would recommend this for a quick read.
I like Ruth J. Hartman style though and I’d like to read more by her. ( )
