I am mad about catalogs & lists, especially those with both subjective and concrete, fanciful and practical descriptions and definitions. And chickens: well, chickens have mad eyes. Mad sight. The author on AIR SPACE: "Probably in the case of no other bird or even animal is there such a valid reason for giving plenty of airs space. The particular reason in the case of the fowl is that it has no sweat glands, so that poisonous waste matter cannot be conveyed from its body by means of perspiration." Apparently, chickens are endowed with 9 air sacs in addition to 2 lungs. Much waste matter is carried off by way of breath. Let no chicken cough on you. Pet a chicken before you share its breath-y air. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Some information is still relevant but is generally available elsewhere, it does however give you a good look at the methods and concerns poultry keepers had nearly a century ago. An interesting peek into the past. ( )
