The beginning of the book was really interested as it settled the mystery and established a
dangerous vibe. It really got me interested in the story. Sadly, after some chapters the mystery became a bit boring and was overshadowed by the teenage romantic conflicts, a thing I wasn’t very fond of.

My biggest issue with the book was the romance. I understand they’re teenagers, but Dusty had horny thoughts a lot and that made me feel a bit uncomfortable, I don’t remember being like that when I was her age. Also, Dusty is in love with Eli, but turns out they can’t be together thanks to a prophecy or something like that and I found it really unnecessary, it only worked to introduce the love triangle, again. There is a love triangle between Dusty, Eli and Paul (Dusty’s ex-boyfriend), which I feel was very forced and unbelievable after the bad things Paul did in the first book. It didn’t make sense to me.

I didn’t like this book as much as the first one, it was slower and the pace didn’t pick up until nearly the end, and also it felt like a standalone. I still want to read the final book thou.

If you are looking for an interesting light YA magical mystery, you should pick up the first book in the trilogy and if you like it, read this one. ( )

I really enjoyed this second book! It continues our story of Dusty - a Nightmare - a magical being who feeds off people's dreams. Dusty is also a dream seer - basically really special because with her partner they can see prophecies/see things before they happen. One thing I do enjoy about this series though, is that Dusty isn't a special snowflake - she really isn't good at magic and being a dream seer, half the time she can't tell what her dreams mean and misses the clues. She is however a realistic teen - as realistic as she can be with magic - and struggles with crushes and friendships. Dusty does develop more in this instalment and I really enjoyed seeing her grow - although she did get annoying at points, but I think it's because when you're older you have 20/20 vision. I enjoyed the side characters as well, but I wish we got to know them more.

The plot was quite enjoyable - if a little formulaic, but I still liked it. Dusty encounters a new mystery to solve and has to use her sleuthing skills to figure out what is going on with some students on campus. We do end up learning more about the world of the magic-kind and I really like how the author integrated the magical with the ordinary world.

Overall, enjoyable, and definitely a fun, easy, read. ( )

I’ve missed Dusty, Eli and Selene so much. They are a group of great friends, and have each others’ backs no matter what.

Nightmare Dilemma picks up not long after the events in Nightmare Affair. I love that we get a small little recap. Dusty grows so much in this book. She deals with things that scare her but she knows she’s the only one that can go through with them. We also get a little more detail about her feelings toward Eli. He’s just an awesome person.

There is a ton of mystery, and I didn’t see the culprit coming at all. I can usually figure out who the bad guy is pretty early on. Arnett surprised me, and I loved it! There’s definitely some romance going on, and it of course messes with emotions.

This is one series that I want there to be more of! ( )
