I really wanted to like this but, to be honest, I found it all quite confusing!
The idea is a good one, but the pictures weren't great and if this re-telling is meant for younger children, I think they'll have trouble figuring out what the moral actually is. ( )

A different telling of The Three Little Pigs. The artwork makes it different and fun. It looks like construction paper. You have to really look at the pictures and read the signs in it. We may think The Three Little Pigs is for children but this version is as fun for adults as well. I was laughing out loud when I was finished. ( )

At first glance I wasn't very impressed with Sweet And Sour Pork. I enjoyed the photography of sets to tell the story, while truly enjoying the outlook of positive and negative outcomes that happen in life and learning what each perspective thought. I would read this book to older children who would have a better understanding of the moral behind the story. After listening to the audio version of this book, i feel that without the pictures the story and moral are not clear. It was a cute book, that I will share with older children. ( )

I think it was a clever twist on an old tale. The positive little pig looks at challenges that life throws at them as a positive or a "piggy-plus", and the old pig looks at the events as a negative or "piggy-minus". It was a cleverful tale on the glass half-empty or glass half-full. I enjoyed the creative twist and cleverly illustrated as well. ( )

First of all... I wasn't overly impressed with the cover. The two tone red and pink combination, reminded me of Valentine's Day - which had nothing to do with this story.

When I opened Sweet And Sour Pork, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pictures in this book - are actually photos of 'sets', created out of multi-media materials. I thought it was a unique way of telling the story and added an artistic element that many children at that age, would not have necessarily been exposed to yet.
The drawback... some of the photographs of the 'sets' weren't the greatest. For example, one of the photos contained glare that was obvious and distracting.
In addition - there were certain aspects about some of the 'sets' that were less than thrilling. Again, colour came in to play.
The actual moral of the story was a good one for children but I think it was told in such a way... that children might have a difficult time absorbing the concept that good things can come from change. ( )
