From Evernight Publishing’s line of Naughty Fairy Tales, this is the Vixen and the Pea, and it’s hotter and naughtier than you can imagine.

King Elazar is ready to abdicate the throne to pursue more entertaining delights such as fishing. One of his conditions before turning over the throne is that his son, Prince Koldo must finally take a bride and produce an heir, but the playboy prince is not ready to settle down. When his father tells him that he has organized a ball and invited all the suitable noblewomen from neighboring kingdoms and that Kobold is to take a bride by the end of that night, preferably Lady Otsana, he desperately needs to blow off some steam. He dons his familiar disguise and Prince Kobold becomes Bero, an unassuming commoner. Once he’s at his favorite watering hole, the village tavern, he quickly finds a willing female to sate his needs.

Fleur just wants a night of unrestrained sex. When Bero approaches her, she recognizes him immediately. At court they have been less than amicable towards one another, and the fact that he doesn’t recognize her gives her the chance to see what all the fuss is about and take the arrogant prince down a peg or two. The sexual attraction and addiction they have towards one another leads to many stolen nights of passion between them, until the eve of the King’s Ball when they must part ways forever. But over the past two weeks, their trysts may have given way to feelings neither of them were expecting. Can Fleur’s “party trick” that blew Kobold’s mind give them their fairy tale happily ever after?

I have come to love Lila Shaw’s writing and her stories as they’re each completely different. This is my third story from her, and I still want more. This is one deliciously naughty twist on the old fairy tale, and she definitely writes some scorching hot sex scenes. The hidden/mistaken identity trope is one of my favorites, and it worked quite well for this story. I loved the playfulness between them with their constant wagering in order to secure one meeting after another. It allowed them to save face from outright asking for it. They are both arrogant and prideful, but they also seem to be thrilled that they’re a perfect match for each other’s voracious sexual appetites in the bedroom. The conclusion of this tale was sexy, funny and sweet. And they lived happily ever after.

I received a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. ( )
