The publisher calls this a 'coffee table book' on coral snakes. I suppose that's one way of looking at it, but it is far more than just a coffee table book.

The book covers all the New World venomous coral snakes. Descriptions and keys identify all of the species and subspecies, with maps of distribution/variation.

There's information on morphology, anatomy, folklore, etc., etc. In addition, the section on venom discusses snakebites, first aid, and remedies.

The pattern section is almost excruciating in its detail, although there really aren't many colour photos of the coral snakes, and the ones which are included don't seem to be very dramatic or vivid. ( )
