The combined elements of a black ops missions, a man who has to live his life as a "ghost" to protect the woman and child he loves, domestic discipline and the hunt for a rogue agent who is the heroine's father and she believes dead make up this action packed romance. ( )

A fairly decent story with a black-ops operative. There is a paranormal element which creates the father-son relationship but is a bit too over the top.

The whole essence of the story was really a miss for me as yet again the woman is someone with little or no morals you would probably do what the female lead did in this book. However, any girl with a moral compass wouldn’t but hay this is fiction, after all. Plus for being an educated woman (she is a teacher after all of which we are constantly reminded) she does do some pretty stupid things which left me thinking ‘what were you thinking!’

There is no real back and forth between the couple, or the usual getting to know each other. All the drama in this novel comes from outside influences, some of which are seriously far-fetched. Plus she forgives him for his misdemeanour way too quickly for my liking.

The main kink in this book is spanking which rather surprised me to be honest. There was also a touch of domestic discipline. Some of the scenes were hot and steamy but there was one part of the novel that could have been oh so much more instead of what it was (quite a let-down really). In short this novel seemed all too contrived and quick. And with such formulaic books there is as always the typical HEA ending.

This book is different from normal erotic romances and not what I was expecting. Given what I said above it did keep me reading to the end. Will I read another on Mss Rose’s books? That I am not sure about but why not give it a go and decide for yourself.

Full Disclosure: ARC received from Netgalley for an honest review. ( )

This is a short erotic novella. It started with Becca and Zac meeting at Becca's sister's wedding. They have one night of steamy, passion and then go their separate ways. Zac is Special Ops and is deep undercover. When Becca finds out she is pregnant with Zac's baby, she tries to contact him only to be told he is dead. Unbeknownst to her, Zac is alive and keeps an eye on Becca and his son from a distance. When their safety is threatened, Zac reveals himself to Becca.

I did enjoy this story apart from a few little things. I liked the premise of the story and how it developed. I did feel the angst, anger as well as the passion between Becca and Zac and liked their connection. Sometimes love at first sight does happen and, being someone who has experienced that, I believed this situation. Zac's protectiveness and the way he has secretly provided for and looked after Becca and Parker, coupled with the psychic connection between Zac and Parker was touching. I did also like the action scenes and it kept me guessing, trying to work out who was behind it all. I thought the author had the right balance between the romance, the mystery and the action.

I thought the sex scenes were well written but what I didn't like were the scenes involving Becca's orgasm and the description of "squirting". It is just a major turn off for me and killed the scenes where that was mentioned. A pet hate for me I'm afraid.
Another thing that bothered me was that when Becca used her safe word, Zac disregarded it. Now I am not an authority on BDSM by any means, but I thought the safe word was used to immediately stop the play and I was disappointed that Zac didn't respect this.

Overall I enjoyed this book but would have enjoyed it more if there was more back story, particularly why Becca enjoyed and needed the spanking. I didn't understand her primal need for the severe spanking that happened.

ARC provided by Netgalley from publisher for an honest review.

I found this story to be very enticing. Zac was unlike any other Dom that I have read in other stories. Becca was submissive but strong at the same time. I enjoyed the story line and would refer this book to others who enjoy new age, modern domination at home.

I enjoyed that Zac was accepting of her kink and wanted to help her explore it. It was even more attractive that he was Block OP's.

Their love was untraditional, their play was more common and the story did not fit the normal guidelines of a D/s relationship must make me really respect the author being inventive, ( )

I'm a little perplexed about this book, part of me loves it and part of me wanted it to be a teeny bit more developed. The banter between Zac and Becca was comical, loving, and steamy. The way Zac takes responsibility, once he is able, for Parker melted by heart. Then of course you have Zac struggling with himself and having to decide between his love for his family or his loyalty to his job. Sometimes I felt like every time Zac and Becca began to talk their lust got in the way, and I also felt that Becca should have resisted a bit more in the beginning.

However, one thing I love about authors is they almost never do things the way you would, and really who would want them to? Ms. Rose writes a great story about circumstances getting in the way of true love, and love triumphing it all in the end. I loved that this was not an all out suspense book, it had the erotic steam some of us love, and it had the comedic relief that we sometimes need. Once I got about a quarter of the way through I started to really get into Safe in His Arms. That first quarter just seemed a bit rushed. I will second the publisher's note above, there are some extremely steamy scenes that are not for the faint of heart, and as for the non-consensual spanking part... well I would say in the end it was consensual. It's one of those relationships where the "dominant" thinks/knows what the "submissive" needs, but Zac and Becca's whole relationship is not like that so don't let that scare you away. There is just as much romance as there is steam. If you like a lot of heat in your romance this book is the one to give it you. Safe in His Arms is avail be NOW! So, make sure to check it out!
