" Good will grow even in the foulest of things, and I have a lot of good" A sweeping, multi-generational saga that leads four generations of women on a journey to find peace within their relationships. For four generations of women, their relationships with men, fathers, boyfriends, husbands, have been cursed; all due to one decision made long ago. The story is told through each of the women's viewpoints, and each has a distinct character. I really enjoyed this book, even though it isn't really a genre that I would usually read. The facets of the multiple-generations of women and the mystery wrapped into the story made this really interesting to me. The characters are all well-developed and any could be a woman you know; Emmy (the great-grandmother), Jenny (the grandmother), Miranda (the mother) and Anlee (the daughter) have all had a rough time with men in their lives. The women in the family have often been a crutch for one another, but this relationship disintegrated when Emmy disappeared from their lives. Brought together again by a letter from Emmy asking them to join her in a mysterious place called Angel Cove, the women can begin building their relationships again and finally outrun Josephine Finch. The relationship between mothers and daughters is always a complicated one. I found it a little hard to keep the characters straight since there were so many generations represented. Emma is the oldest and the mother of Jenny Jenny is the mother of Miranda. Miranda is the mother of Anlee. Hans was supposed to be Miranda's husband but leaves while Miranda is giving birth and never returns. It seems that his first wife, the woman he was legally married to gave him an ultimatum return or else so naturally he returns to her. The women are now living alone coping with their own baggage. I think almost everyone carries a few memories of their mother that shape their reactions and the way they think about relationships. I enjoyed reading the book and will recommend it to friends. In my opinion it would make a great book club book. I haven't addressed Josephine Finch, you'll just have to read about her and draw your own conclusions. I loved the ending which of course I'm not going to reveal. I received this book for free in exchange for this honest review. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a great book by an amazing author. The characters were sweet and charming. They were well developed and you are endeared to them from the start. You lose yourself in the pages and feel as if you are part of the story. I stayed up all night to finish this book - had to know how it ended. This is a piece of work that will stay with you long after you finish it. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
It only took one moment. One lie. One Josephine Finch to keep them apart...forever. Sixty-four years have passed since Emmy lost her true love, but the curse still echoes through every second, every breath, every heartbeat, and Emmy's tired of running. With the help of a Wish Listener named Adam, four generations of troubled women will come together for two weeks in a cabin at Angel's Cove-their last chance to face down the past and put an end to the dark secret that has haunted Emmy for a lifetime. But Angel's Cove is not just a mountain vacation resort. If Emmy gets her wish, her bloodline will finally find true love as beautiful as what Emmy lost so long ago. If she doesn't, the legacy of Josephine Finch could destroy them all. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

Jenny and Emmy are introduced first, but then in the second chapter, Miranda is suddenly part of the family without explaining how Miranda came to be Jenny's daughter. (Maybe that is explained later in the book. I was so confused I stopped reading about a tenth of the way in.) ( )
