Taste of Love is the first story in Cassidy Kingston’s Five Senses series. I cheated a little and read the second story, Scent of Desire, first, a few months ago. But the order doesn’t really matter, each story is about a different character and focuses one on the five senses. In this short story, taste was focused upon.

What’s great about these stories is that they’re short, so they get right to the point. The character, Laken, is set up nicely. She is a young vampire who is looking for a way to be free of the vampire who made her, Richard. I liked seeing this. It wasn’t going to be another silly story of a human woman falling for a seductive vampire. There was reasoning behind it all; a plan behind the actions that take place.

If you’re looking for some hot sex scenes, this story has some for you. This is an erotic short story, so it’s expected; the reader’s wants (and the character’s) are fulfilled. After reading some other erotic stories over the last few months, I can say that Kingston does a good job with them. It wasn’t ALL sex and it wasn’t poorly written at all. There is a story there, just like in Scent of Desire.

The element of taste in this story worked well. Vampires are blood-sucking creatures…literally. What better way to bring that into a story than through the taste of blood. Most people know what blood taste’s like from a bloody nose or sucking on a paper cut. What does it taste like for a vampire? They crave it and it’s only expected that their taste would be more acute to differences from one person to the next. The descriptions of various tastes and how they come about were enjoyable.

Overall I enjoyed this story. It was great to read, relaxing for a little while outside before running around being busy the rest of the day. I look forward to the third installment in the series, and the two after that. ( )
