Honestly I was hoping for better. The blurb grabbed my attention but then I just couldn't get into it. This is my first by Justina Chen and just because I didn't like this one doesn't mean I won't give her another try. ( )

"If you let go of your expectations, something better usually comes along." "One person's dead end is another person's on-ramp."
Hiking the Inca trail, trusting in love again, and learning what is non-negotiable.

I knew I would like this book because I liked North of Beautiful, also by Chen.

Shana is a guy-magnetic. Guys fall for her constantly and she gets hit on and flirted with by every male she meets. Because of a bad breakup, Shana discards guys after one or two dates, becoming a serial flirter but averse to commitment, treating guys with little respect. When her father is diagnosed with a disease, Shana’s family decides to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Machu Picchu.

On this trip, Shana runs into a guy, Quattro, she briefly met before the trip in her home town of Seattle, Washington. Coincidentally, he and his father are travelling to Machu Picchu as well with their own family reasons. On this trip, Shana discovers that we become blind to what we don’t want to see. With her photography, Shana hopes to capture people as they truly are. A natural disaster turns their journey into a dangerous, life-threatening adventure where people’s true colors come out.

When the novel started, I didn’t like Shana and was disappointed because I loved North of Beautiful so much. Quickly, I became engrossed and really liked the message and the story. I would love to hike Machu Picchu someday, so I found the trekking information really interesting. I will admit that this novel will appeal to females more than males. I really liked it and recommend reading it. ( )
