Jane is a little dog who travels in the circus, but she doesn't feel like she's as special as her mother, father, siblings, or any of the other circus performers. But in the end she realizes that she's great at one thing: being Jane. And that's good enough. I love the message in this story that you shouldn't compare yourself to others. ( )

Jane's family were performers in the circus. Her whole family all had talents except for her. She tried all kinds of tricks and talents but she was just ordinary and although it made her sad, she was still Jane and that was enough for her family and her owner to love her. This book is about acceptance. She didn't need to compare herself to others because although Jane didn't have any talents or tricks to perform in the circus like her family, she was a good dog and loved. This book is great to teach a life lesson not to compare yourself to others and also about looking past someone's imperfections and loving and accepting them anyways. ( )

Jane is an ordinary dog living at an extraordinary circus. While she isn’t strong, brave or graceful like the rest of her family, Jane is wonderful and loved in her own, special way.

This is a wonderful picture book. The illustrations are colorful and vibrant. The text is simple enough for a new reader, but at the same time, filled with some challenged and fun vocabulary. Pizzazz is always a fun word to say in my book. I also love the play on the word “extraordinary” Jane is really just extra ordinary. This book is a wonderful, and whimsical reminder to our children that they don’t have to be the fastest or smartest in order to be loved and appreciated. It sends a very strong “be yourself” message, which is always important for young people to hear.
