Ten Days Without: Daring Adventures in Discomfort That Will Change Your World and You I mentioned I had read this book last week and really wanted to give it a proper review. It was such a great book and a simple review would not do it justice. This book changed how I felt about the world around me. But the Author went without shoes, a coat, media, furniture, legs, waste, speech, and touch each for 10 days to raise awareness for things like; disease, homelessness, distraction, poverty, the environment, slavery, widows, and orphans. He does this to raise awareness for those who may not have a voice or people we soon forget. How many homeless do we pass by without helping? It is a great reminder and also has some great humor twists to it. The author leaves nothing back! This book is so inspiring I just cannot recommend it enough! This is an easy read. I would recommend this for anyone even beginners. ( ) I read Ten Days Without: Daring Adventures in Discomfort That Will Change Your World and You, in exchange for honest review from Blogging for Books. I received a paperback version of the book. The book was written by Daniel Ryan Day. I wanted to review the book because the description sounded Amazon. Day went 10 days without a particular item to raise money for different organizations. For 10 days, he went without shoes. For another 10 days, he went without speaking. 10 days without a coat, without furniture, without legs. The book made me think about what could I give up for 10 days. I can't give up my phone, even though I rarely make calls because I have kids. Can't give up parts of social media because I am a blogger and student. Can't give up internet because I am a student. I can go 10 days without sweets. without snacks. without a coat. without going out to eat or ordering delivery. without sex (since I been celibate for over 3 years). maybe I can try to go 10 days without arguing or fussing or getting angry at my kids. I think the book teaches people about gratitude. People are suffering everyday and would be grateful for the simple things, such as a coat or a pair of shoes. Day used going without to help others in need. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
A Rebellion against Apathy. A Strategy for Action. "Life is full of good intentions, but for too many, our good intentions never become good actions - they don't move us forward, draw us closer to God, or make a difference in the world. Good intentions are cans of paint that could have become amazing works of art - but never did." - Daniel Day, in Ten Days Without. Daniel Day could tell you all about his love for God and his desire to live as a follower of Jesus. But it took a simple but radical experiment to move from simply talking about it to actually living like it. For ten days at a time, Daniel chose to abandon a certain "necessity" - a coat, a voice, shoes, media, furniture, legs, touch - and to blog about it to raise funds and awareness for organizations that are doing amazing things to make a difference in the world. And then he invited others to join him in the experiments and spread the vision. Together they served God and others - and experienced significant personal change in the process. Ten Days Without is the story of their life-altering adventure. Ten Days Without is a compelling story and practical guide that will equip you and your friends to break through walls of convenience and indifference, and join a movement that is confronting apathy and ignorance around the world to make an impact on people's lives in a God-honoring way. Ten Days Without is where our good intentions end and making a difference in the world begins. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |
