Broc is an outcast who basically is in hiding from his clan. Kensey is a fairly young girl who is trying to take care of her ten-year-old brother. When the two meet, she doesn't know who he is at first, but she knows his family. From the writings, it's obvious that there is some attraction to him. He's already infatuated with her. When she realizes who he is, she seems even more attracted to him. At some point they marry, but she doesn't really seem to believe that he truly loves her. After all, he left her the morning after their wedding night! These misunderstandings lead her to believe that he has left her for good and she plans to leave the clan for France, where she can spend the rest of her life as a widow.

All in all, I feel that the book was well done. The characters were sufficiently developed and interact together well. I was pleased with the outcome and would happily read more of R.L. Syme's works. ( )

A lovely story of how a cast off man follows his true love to the ends of the earth to see that she is safe and happy. Even if that means her marrying his own brother. But she has a will of her own and bringing him home to his clan could change everything. ( )
