Lizzy, the curious little witch whose magical adventures are chronicled in five picture-books from Flemish author Lieve Baeten, stars in this engaging search-and-find board book. Each of the six two-page spreads here shows Lizzy doing something, either in preparation for or celebration of her birthday. Around the edges of each spread are a variety of characters and objects, which the reader must look for on the page.

A cute book, one sure to appeal to fans of this curious little witch, Little Witch's Magic Word Book was apparently first published in Germany in 2010, as Die Kleine Hexe zaubert - Wimmelbilder zum Suchen und Finden. Given that Lieve Baeten died in 2001, I would assume there was no original Flemish edition, and that this title was created from artwork taken from her picture-books. However that may be, it is an appealing book, with adorable artwork (naturally), and a fun seek-and-find element. Although a board book, it has the dimensions of a larger picture-book, which I was not expecting. Recommended to fans of Lieve Baeten and her curious little witch, as well as to those who enjoy magical seek-and-find picture-books. ( )
