The Vampire Watcher's Notebook is the must-have guide to hunting down vampires. It will provide the increasing number of vampire fans with a practical how-to guide to investigating, hunting and even slaying vampires. Author and vampire expert Craig Glenday explores the 'reality' of vampires through myths, legends and facts from across the world. He includes a rogue's gallery of famous examples, extending from Vlad the Impaler to Countess Elisabeth Bathory (who showered in the blood of virgins ), and many modern examples. This is a very fun, lighthearted book, for the subject matter. It is an easy read. I think it was one of the earlier books with that “just found in the attic” quality, with things like thumb prints and blood spatters on the pages. As a reference book about vampires, it covers a lot of ground, but it feels like at a very superficial level. However, the “Further Reading” and resources section at the back is very thorough. Old primary sources from the middle ages are included, up to modern websites. Also, it kind of looks like it could be a text book for Defense Against the Dark Arts in Harry Potter! ( )

A first look, this seems a lightweight, fun book on how to find and slay vampires. It does have its silly bits, but overall it is actually a comprehensive collection of vampire folklore from around the world. It's full of numerous pieces of information, some familiar, some that were totally new to me.
This would be a good book for anyone interested in the vampire legend, or anyone thinking of writing their own piece of vampire fiction. ( )

A wealth of information on the lore and history of vampires, covering all the various major traditions of this much discussed revenenant. From how to distinquish a 'real' vampire from a 'wannabee' (which helps avoid those embarrassing 'staking' mistakes), to effective means of escaping unscathed the clutches of a creature of the night, this is a comprehensive look at the ways and means of the Undead. But besides that it was way to confussing to stay with what the auther was saying and the purpose.... ( )
