Lädt ... Road of No Return: Hounds of Valhalla MCvon K. A. Merikan

Listen, using one word throughout the book non stop was just not for me - gay slurs I get especially in an MC book (pretty light on the MC though) - but using it throughout the whole book was too much for me .. I did like the pupperoo and Zach though .. I could have done without the rest of the book. Let there be no mistake: had this story been anything but fiction, I would have probably not made it to the end! It is gritty, brutally realistic, and has two main characters whom I hesitate to call "heroes". One is a biker with a developing conscience (which, I admit, made him a little easier for me to like) and the other is a tattoo artist looking for peace and quiet. Ha! All I can say is that he should not have moved to Lake Valley, idyllic though the town’s name may sound. It’s all deception, as he soon discovers. Please do heed the content warnings, they are there for a reason. If they don’t scare you, get on board for a wild ride and have fun! It pulled me in from page one and didn’t let me go! Stitch is an outlaw biker for sure. He is a Hound of Valhalla to the core, they are the only family he really has, and whatever they tell him to do, he executes—illegal operations included. Stitch may be divorced, but he wants to make sure his daughter has everything she ever dreamed of and that costs money. There is only one problem: he is attracted to men. It is one of his darkest secrets, but when Zak comes along, Stitch’s walls begin to crumble. It is a lengthy process, and accompanied by lots of hesitation and denial since he cannot be gay. Once he admits it to himself though, there is no stopping him. Unfortunately his fellow brothers see things differently and all hell breaks loose. Zak thinks he is ready to have a secret affair with a closeted biker. He has no trouble with being gay, but he does have issues with commitment. As he gets to know Stitch better, that principle crumbles and Zak needs to decide if he is really up for monogamy—something Stitch, as closeted as he remains, demands. And yes, that makes little sense, but hey, Stitch is an outlaw, so he can do whatever he wants, right? Zak has a different opinion and the sparks fly on several occasions. In the end though, it comes down to a choice between standing by Stitch and his illegal activities or returning to a lonely life without the man Zak has come to love. Not an easy choice at all! If you like to live on the edge, even if only in the books you read, if you enjoy stories with two strong heroes, each principled in their own way, and if you’re looking for a gritty, sometimes violent read with a few twists and turns and an ending that will blow your mind, then you should definitely give this novel a try. It’s not the kind of book I would normally read, but the “danger vibe” lured me in this time, and I do not regret it. NOTE: This book was provided by the author for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews. This is the first book that I've read by the authors known as K.A Merikan, and I have to say they did a great job. Right now MC books are a hot trendy thing, and from many of the threads in the groups I belong too so are M/M romances. Combining the two hot topics together we get Road of No Return (Sex & Mayhem #1). The books blurb does a wonderful job providing a synopsis of what the book is about, and providing a warning on possible triggers (WARNING Contains adult content: a gritty storyline, sex, explicit language, violence and torture) that could spoil the readers experience. This is a book about sacrifice, accepting your sexual orientation, committing to love, and surviving societal homophobic fears & attitudes. The characters in the book were very real and believable. The challenges they faced a little too real in this day and age. The story of Stitch and Zak covers approximately 6-7 months, during which time both men experience significant personal growth, challenges most couples would never experience, and have to bale each other out of some dicey situations. The back story on our two leads is just enough for the reader to develop a feeling for them. Stitch and Zak are polar opposites.. Stitch being a member of the Hound of Valhalla MC, a on the wrong side of the law group of egocentric, alpha, homophobic males, having no consideration for anyone but their MC family, and Zak a laidback, non-violent, tattoo artist new to town, attempting to build a new business. I liked Zaks character from the get go, but it took me awhile to warm up to Stitch (outwardly he parroted the MC attitude, while inwardly wanting something totally different), he came off as someone who had never been in a relationship, a bit self centered, and not open in his thinking, for me the “like” happened around 30% into the book at the 2 month point in their relationship. The secondary characters (Crystal, Cox, Gator, Captain) I never really liked them at all. For me this book had a large cast of adversaries. I felt the authors did a great job convening feelings, creating mood, and writing tasteful but hot male sex scenes. I have to admit that I was distressed by the last few chapters of the book, as I really don’t want to believe that “we” as a society have not evolved past this homophobic state, but I guess since this type of behavior is in the news, and is spewed from people’s mouths on daily basis “we” haven’t (and that is so sad !) I would like to thank the authors, who provided a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. For me this was a 4 start read Zeige 5 von 5 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
Gehört zur ReiheSex & Mayhem (Book 1)
--- Sprich nicht mit Fremden. --- Zak. Tattookünstler. Unabhängig. Geht keine Beziehungen ein. Stitch. Outlaw Biker.
