This book was one of my favorite picture books that I have read so far. I liked this book because I could relate to the boy and how he was describing his dog. I could relate because my family has three dogs. I love dogs, especially mine with all of my heart. I found this book to be extremely accurate because my family always says, dogs are just a small part of our world, but to them we are their whole world. This is a big reason why I loved dogs so much and how much they love their humans. This book perfectly captured the essence of how dogs feel about humans. ( )

Agree with the message--sought the book out for this reason, in fact--but it was not as robust as I'd hoped for. This may be a function of age--my youngest is six, so perhaps the gentle message is best for younger children. ( )

Me & Dog was written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author Gene Weingarten. Me & Dog is a story about a boy(Sid) who loves his dog(Murphy), and a dog who loves his owner. Sid is worried that Murphy thinks he is the king of the world, and that he must do whatever Sid says. Sid wants Murphy to know that he is just an ordinary kid and the Murphy doesn't have to worried about him all of the time. This book really depicts the relationships of pets to their owners. Pets are only part of your life, but you are their whole life. I think this book is important to read to children who own pets. Children need to be aware that their pets lives revolve around them, and that they need to be properly taken care of. As an activity, students could write what makes their pet special to them and what they do to take care of him/her. ( )
