Lena is a retired Army Intelligence officer who is suffering from PTSD. When she returned home from war, the PTSD took more and more of Lena’s life away from her, soon separating her from her husband, family and friend. So Lena and her service dog Hero escaped Portland and moved to Independence Falls to find peace. What she didn’t expect to find was playboy Chad Summers.
Chad loved women and wasn’t looking for a relationship of any type, but after an incident with Lena and Hero and drama from his “dating”, Lena and Chad came to an agreement for Lena to play Chad’s girlfriend, but it soon turns in to more until Lena’s past and her PTSD stops her in her tracks….
This book is mind-blowingly beautiful! The characters are amazing and Sara Jane’s knowledge about PTSD clearly shows. I had tears streaming down my face from beginning to end of this book. The book was well written, no plot holes, well informed and Sara Jane Stone should be commended for writing about a women suffering from PTSD, which in my opinion is often overlooked.
I give Hero by Night a well-deserved 10 out of 10 and I look forward to reading more of this series.

Another awesome read in this series!! I love this author's writing style and super sexy storytelling! In this book we have Lena, who have 2 tours in Afghanistan is having serious trouble dealing with every day life. As long as she keeps to herself and has her companion dog, she can get through the day. Who would ever believe the one person who could help her reclaim some form of normal would be self proclaimed commitment phobe Chad Summers! Theirs is a wonderful story that you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it! ( )

Excellent story! Love the characters and Ms. Stone's writing style. She is a great story teller! Her depiction of veterans with PTSD is very well thought out and well written. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading them in order. You will not be disappointed. And, once you read one, you will want to read them all. My only complaint...I wish Lena would have tried to fight her fear more when faced with a fear inducing situation instead of giving up right away.

I would like to see Lena's brother get his own story.
