Endorsed on the back of the book by some of the best in the business (Brad Thor, Lee Child, David Baldacci, James Patterson, Clive Cussler, and Robert Crais), Christopher Reich writes very good, topical thrillers. This one is prompted by the death of an FBI agent, who manages to leave a coded voicemail for his wife, who does not accept the "whitewashed" version of his being killed by a confidential informant. She is joined in her quest to discover what really happened and why by a disgraced reporter and former college football star, Tank Potter. The novel is very cutting edge in technology, communications, and cyber security: a computer genius sociopath is assembling an all-powerful super computer to monitor the Internet, akin to Samaritan (from CBS's TV show, Person of Interest. Recommended. ( )

Christopher Reich has a series of thriller novels that I've tried and failed to enjoy. But, this, a stand alone, was pretty good. When her FBI agent husband was killed, the details did not add up and so Mary Grant began to dig into details. There was a fair amount of technical hacking as part of the plot which usually annoys me no end. This did a little pandering but not too bad and at least held credibility pretty much. Also he didn't go too far with a female child character with cancer. I do admire his dedication to the plot and I will likely search out another of Reich's stand alone books next time I'm looking. When her husband is killed in the line of duty working for the FBI, Mary finds some inconsistencies. Her investigation takes her to a world of hacking and involves her oldest daughter. Very good! ( )

Decent story, well-crafted, not a self-doubt amongst the crew. I couldn't wait to get back to it, but then couldn't wait for it to be over. ( )

I was very happy to have won this cybercrime murder mystery on the GoodReads giveaway, Invasion of Privacy is the story of an FBI agent's wife, Mary, who seeks to find the truth about how her husband was killed. With the help of an alcoholic and recently fired newspaper journalist, Mary embarks on a dangerous mission that unveils a high level conspiracy to cover up his death and much more. Jessie, Mary's fifteen year old techno geek daughter, also becomes involved and finds herself in danger when she uses her hacking skills to try to recover the last phone message from her dad. Invasion of Privacy is a page turner that will make you think twice about using your smart phone or computer. You will be left wondering whether any of your life is private. My only negative comment about this book was that I found Mary to be a tad too "wonder woman" for my taste and a little lacking in the emotional department. It made it a little hard to connect with her. Still, an entertaining book worth reading. ( )
