Boys of the South #5. Burn For You can be read as a standalone. 1 Single Dad, 1 Nanny, 1 Month in Monaco, Endless Nights... Beau Montgomery is *not* the typical single dad for three reasons: 1. He's rich and famous. 2. He needs a nanny, like yesterday. 3. He has no idea if eight month old, Mia, is actually his daughter. Only, number three doesn't matter to him, because he's determined to give up everything to be a standup dad, including racing, partying, and his favorite vice-women. Until that is, he's invited to race in Monaco--a dream he's always had. Now, all those things he'd sworn to give up are at his fingertips, including the very inconveniently hot nanny, Landry Basnight, who's traveling with him. Landry Basnight *is* the typical college graduate for three reasons: 1. She's broke and in debt up to her eyeballs. 2. She needs a job, like yesterday. 3. Nothing exciting ever happens in her life. Only, number three is about to change, because she's been hired by Beau Montgomery, son of Racing Royalty. Landry's parents are big fans of the Montgomerys, while she couldn't care less--all she wants is to make a dent in her student loans. However, that doesn't stop her from falling in love with her little charge, nor does it make it easier to resist Beau's charms. Lines are crossed, and then forgotten as Beau and Landry grow closer, but when Beau's ex-girlfriend, who is also Mia's mother, shows up, everything starts to fall apart for the new couple. Will their love weather the storm, or will Beau abandon Landry for the family he's always wanted?… (mehr)

Burn For You (Boys of the South) (Kindle Edition)
Was not a fan of this book. For some reason didn't enjoy as much as I have many of her others. ( )

This is a wonderful story about Beau Montgomery, a well-known race car driver. He was an illegitimate child raised by his addict mother until his mother took her life when he was a teen. He then went to live with his biological father and his family. When he met Paisley, he knew it was love. They were together for years when she had a child. By this time, Beau had a successful career in racing. He'd always wanted a family and was thrilled with the baby, Mia. He didn't know or care if the baby was his or not. With a big race coming up in Monaco, Beau needed a nanny quickly. Landry applied for the job, she was perfect so he hired her.

The book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the storyline, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. Beau was a good man who cherished his daughter. He was determined she would never have the kind of childhood he did so she was his top priority and the love of his life. Landry was the opposite of Beau, coming from a good home with two parents. She was a bit on the shy side, not experienced with men. Beau and Landry had a sweet romance, bringing out the best in each other.

Even though this book is part of a series, I hadn't read the other books but didn't have any trouble following this story. I would like to know about the other boys though so I'll be reading more in this series. ( )

An amazing addition to the Boys of the South series. A fantastic story with sizzling attraction between the characters and obstacles that tug at your heart. Bad boy Beau is a single father in need of a nanny. Good girl Landry just graduated college and needs a job. Can they fight the attraction that sparks between them? I highly recommend you read this one! ( )

SPOILERS AND EXCERPTS:
A story about the hero, his 2 heroines and his daughter.

Hero: Beau
Heroine 1: Paisely, his first love (she's meant to be the ow)
Their daughter: Mia (he accepts her as his own although paternity hasn't been proven)
Heroine 2: Landry, Mia's nanny (she's the one he ends up with)

The bottom line:
- Beau and Paisely are high school sweethearts.
Intense, volatile and broken.
The damaged, passionate stuff so many of the latest books are based on.
Beau about his relationship with Paisely:
“I was insanely jealous and possessive, and fucked up most of the time I was with her. The thought of another man with her made me crazy..."

- Mia is born.
Beau and Paisely are no longer together at this stage. Beau's main focus is now having that family he has always desperately craved for.

- Sweet "normal" Landry is hired to look after baby Mia because Paisely now has cancer, is dying, and as Paisely says to Beau near the end of their story:
"I picked her for you and Mia as soon as I found out there wasn’t a cure.”

Page 1:
Beau's thoughts about Paisely, the ow:
“I remember the very first time I fell in love. It was the summer before my senior year of high school.”

50% in:
Beau sees ow:
“Paisley gives me a smile, one that takes my breath away, because I haven’t seen one like it since the day I met her.”

75% in:
Beau's thoughts during his and Landry's "first time" together:
“What if I’ve fallen too hard and too quickly like I did with Paisley? I inwardly groan. Not her. Not right now. She (Paisely) said I would think of her, when I was with Landry, and I hate how fucking right she is.”
...“I grab her hand before it can go lower and place it right over my heart, right over Paisley’s initials."

85% in:
The "morning after" Beau and Landry's first time together, WHILE HE IS STILL IN THE BED THEY JUST WOKE UP IN:
Beau to Paisely, on the fone:
“I recall fucking you for so hard that you couldn’t walk the next day. Then we did it all over again. Hell, you even let me replace that stick up your ass with something bigger, and I don’t remember you saying anything but, “Fuck me harder, Beau.”

(Although Paisely is no longer a love interest, her hold on him is still powerful)

93% in:
Paisely: “I don’t want to die..."
Beau: ...“Then live, honey. Live for Mia. She’s going to need her momma for so many things. I won’t know what to do.”
Paisely: “Landry will,” she says. “She loves Mia almost as much as you and I do, and as time goes by, she’ll love her like her own daughter.”
Beau: “Stop talking like that, damn it.”
...
Paisely: ...“Damn Landry Basnight and thank God for her. She’s getting the best of you and me.”
Beau: “Mia will always be your daughter. We won’t let her forget you,” I promise her. Forget promise. I swear it.”

THE END:
Paisely chose well for Beau and Mia.
Landry is the perfect back-up mum and stand-in wife.
Here she talks to Paisely's grave about pictures of Paisely:
“... I've already framed them and scattered them throughout the house so Mia won’t have to go very far to see you.”
