I was given this book for free to review. This book was hilarious, the dialog was spot on, and I loved the characters. This is a Book 4, and I didn't read Book 1 - 3 yet, but I had no problem jumping into the story. The previous books aren't needed to enjoy this one. It was a well paced story, there were a few points in Jamies daily work load that I felt like why is this needed but in the end I think it really adds to letting you know that her life is usually really dull and uneventful. Definitely going to continue the series ( from the beginning :P ) ( )

Jamie’s back in Engaged in Danger, the fourth entry in the Jamie Quinn Mystery series, and boy am I glad! At one point in the book, Jamie says, “I make a list of things to worry about when the things I'm already worrying about get resolved.” This is just one of the things that makes her such an appealing character. Even though she’s talented and clever and resourceful and strong, she frets about anything and everything almost non-stop. It could be annoying, but expertly written by author Barbara Venkataraman it’s just another of Jamie’s endearing personality traits.

As Engaged in Danger begins, life is moving along smoothly and uneventfully for Jamie and her gang. Life with boyfriend Kip couldn’t be better, her law practice is booming, and her father finally, finally, finally may get his visa. What could possibly go wrong? Well, this is Jamie’s life, so a lot. First, Kip gets a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity to go to Australia. Jamie can’t go with him because of her father’s impending visa. She’s certain of Kip’s love, she is, but her eyes do get a little green when she learns about his new assistant.

On the home front, Jamie decides to take on a high-profile divorce case and partner with her best friend Grace. Sure, it’s high-profile, but it looks like it will be pretty easy and pretty promising for her career and financial security. But as always, things get deadly and dangerous. Jamie is up against some hard-hitters who will stop at nothing, Grace is seriously upset with her, and she misses Kip so much she’s almost convinced herself he doesn’t love her anymore.

Engaged in Danger is a brilliant addition to the Jamie Quinn series. The plot is solid and fast-paced, the supporting cast friends you can’t wait to see again, and the suspense keeps you turning pages. As always, Jamie is bright, sparkling, and funny, one of those characters you fall in love with right away. Some series grab you after just a couple of chapters. They are your auto-buys and this is one of those series. It will be a different case or mystery or murder but your favorite characters will all be there in your favorite setting doing your favorite things. I have loved that girl from the beginning and her story can go on and on and on and I will eagerly await and devour each installment. Read Engaged in Danger and the rest of Jamie’s stories – you’ll be glad you did. ( )

Life is good. Jaime's relationship with her boyfriend, Kip, seems to be moving smoothly along.... Talk about short lived! Kip has been given a chance on a three month temporary job to help Save the Wombat. That isn't bad that Jamie might be competing with a Wombat for attention...it is the fact the the job is in Australia!

As soon as the door closes on Kip, another opens and in comes a woman wanting Jaime to handle her divorce, cost is no problem. Not too bad, until Jaime finds out that the soon-to-be-ex is a high-powered attourney in town who has many influential people in his pocket and is not one to tangle with. For help on this, she enlists her BFF to assist, which puts a strain on their friendship making it close to coming unglued.

Just for added stress, Jaime is asked by her neighbours to find out what the real story is behind the plane crash the killed the parents of their neice, whom they are now caring for. Seems there is some sort of covering up and true results are slow in coming.

Once more she enlists P.I. Duke Broussard to dig up the info that seems to be deeply buried. His methods may not always be legal, but he does get results.

Again, The action is good and there is humour to be found. This is the 4th book in the series and I've yet be be disappointed with any of them. Barbara Venkataramen keeps the action, humour and my interest in her books coming! ( )

Engaged in Danger: A Jamie Quinn Mystery (Jamie Quinn Mysteries Book 4)
by Barbara Venkataraman

Things are going good for Jamie Quinn, a family law attorney. She has a great boy-friends, her law practice is doing good, life is going smooth for her. Then she is hired on for a very high profile divorce. What she thought would be a "good thing" soon turns dangerous, and her relationship with her best friend grace is at stake.

Jamie is very Likable, she is her own person and does things her way. Then there is Grace, she is another educated lawyer and likable too. When the two decide to take on a case together, things get intense. It is not just a simple divorce. Jamie and Graces have to face some serious issues.

Well written, with drama, intense moments, suspense and shocking surprises. The plot is original, and evenly paced. I highly recommend Engaged in Danger: A Jamie Quinn Mystery to those who love a good mystery. A true five-star read! ( )

There’s nothing like a good murder mystery, but Venkarataman takes the genre one step further. Engaged in Danger is so much more than a standard murder mystery – it delves into the lives of the primary characters, describes places and people in vivid detail, and makes me want to be a part of this rather crazy bunch of people. Jamie hasn’t changed; if anything, she’s becoming a really good attorney who has yet to convince herself of that fact. All of the characters from the first three Jamie Quinn Mystery series, and they are even more interesting this time around. I love the humor Venkarataman brings to her stories and I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading. I’m eager for more of Jamie Quinn and her crazy group of friends.
