A short story set in Regency England, and a dwarf has just stolen the Prince Regents' special pocket watch. But it's Constable Woods who is blamed for letting the thief get away. Its up to Lavender and the rest of the Bow Street Runners to find the watch and the thief.

A Wonderful Read

I love what author Karen Charlton has created with the Bow street runners, Stephen Lavender and Ned Woods. What a lovely team! The setting, language, and mystery all have an authentic feel that draws you into the story. ( )

I have greatly enjoyed the two full length mystery novels by this author featuring Bow Street Runners Detective Stephen Lavender and Constable Ned Woods in early 19th century London. This is the second of two short stories the author has also released, and was for me the better of the two (the difference being between excellent and merely good), the plot centring on the theft of a pocket watch belonging to the Prince Regent which carries a significance well beyond its material value. It's always great to see these two in action and I look forward to reading the third novel in the main series soon. ( )
