Ya gotta hand it to him? When the teenaged Duchess Pippa Grimaldi walked in on her best friend's brother Prince Christopher in a particularly private moment, she about died of embarrassment. As did Topher, especially when his brother Zander and the rest of his royal siblings then promptly dubbed him the Wanker and never let him live down his public "exposure." It seemed the only way he could escape his overwrought reputation was by fleeing Monaforte altogether, which he did for years. But when he finally returns to the European principality for the wedding of his brother Prince Adrian, Topher finds himself relishing a most unexpected one-night stand with none other than free-spirited Pippa. And while Topher would like nothing more than to nurture the secret crush he'd had on her for years, she decides the only way to spare him further shaming at the hands of his brothers is to get far, far away from him. Even if being with him stirs feelings she's never felt with another man. Keine Bibliotheksbeschreibungen gefunden. |

Gardiner describes the numerous setting in great detail from the various shades of blue and green for the Caribbean Sea and the British Virgin Islands to the Australian sunsets with orange and red. But the focus is Pippa and Topher. Topher's boyhood crush on Pippa along with numerous embarrassing moments builds a faux conflict for Topher. Pippa is conflicted about their relationship for numerous reasons, one of which is her friendship to Topher's older brother Zander from the previous novel. Plus her kinredship with the Queen and her husband as second parents to her...Pippa was fearful of ruining that relationship by beginning a romantic one with Topher. One aspect I was a bit disappointed by was the lack of character development for Topher. As readers we are given the explanation of why Topher distanced himself from the rest of the family, but we don't really see who he is as a person as we did with Adrian and Darcy. Less of the previous characters are intertwined in this novel as in the previous books, although that could be due to Topher's distance from his family. I was slightly disappointed with this novel.
